My stomach was getting louder and louder as I sat waiting in my car at a red traffic light. I began to sing what Winnie the Pooh taught us "When I am rumbly in my tumbly then it's time to eat." He usually grabbed sweet honey.
I ran out of the house that morning to get one quick errand done. I hadn't eaten or taken time to spend with God. As I sat at the stop light I thought of the special times I have had with God when I fasted. Fasting is about spending time with God. When you deny yourself of food it allows you to depend on God. Memory recounted a time when I just couldn't figure out my schedule for the next season. I was praying and there seemed to be no answer. I decided to fast. I was quiet enough at that point that I heard that small voice say "Continue." I can't explain it; but it was clear as can be. I was to continue with the schedule I had until further notice. Peace washed over me. It was settled! I love those special moments.
I read this scripture today. Psalm 68:19 "Blessed be the Lord,
Who daily loads us with benefits,
The God of our salvation! Selah
David was a musician and he used Selah to mean- pause for this musical interlude. Just reading that verse brought me to tears. I can not forget all of the benefits daily.
Take a moment and pause for this musical interlude and forget not the benefits the Lord loads on you. He is the God of our salvation! Selah.
Pray: God, You are remarkable! I am in awe that I able to understand Your salvation plan and love for me. Thank You. Amen.
