Kardashians

"Pain can have a purpose" was the confession of a Pastor. "How encouraging, how wonderful" I thought to myself sarcastically.

We know the saying "no pain, no gain" in relation to exercise. But does that translate to be true in our daily walk of life? I do believe if we are unscathed that we won't realize the presence of God as much. We won't find a reason for Him. At least it makes it harder.

Is that what Jesus meant by HIs saying "it is harder for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven?" For instance, the Kardashians, can use their money to do just about anything they want to do. Does that reality TV show create a desire for you to want to "Keep up with the Kardashians"? Do they take the time to process their pain or does money help ease it just enough to get by? Is it harder for them to find a need for God?

Do you take your current circumstance and say "God what is going on here, what will be my take away?" It takes courage to put aside emotion impluses to give time to work things out and quite possibly reveal a truth about your circumstances. Do you have the courage to ask?

In my family at times I was known as "Elaine the pain." Did I give people pain? I know now that when I was a child I was very talkative and wanted attention at times. But I choose to be a blessing for others. How about you? Do you get up each day determined to think about others and be a blessing to them?

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose"(Romans 8:28 NIV).

THE POWER OF A MOMENT

THE POWER OF A MOMENT
Dear Friend:

A Father spending time with his daughter while on vacation had a MOMENT to say this "We were talking (she actually does that with me now!) and I was sharing about how we have to fill our minds with hope and faith and trust. And how we can be thrown about by doubt and fear and anxiety unless we choose and allow God's spirit to fill and guide us."

Have you ever stopped for a moment and thought to yourself how important a moment is? He could have chose any topic in the world to talk about but he chose to speak about God.

I have visited the elderly and have discovered they wish they had thought about their moments more.

Have you had a moment where someone spoke evil to you and it hurt bad? You think by just holding on to that anger things will get better and you can move on?

In a moment recently I heard a sermon and these wise words were preached.
Holding on to unforgiveness allows that memory to live rent-free in your heart.

Give up the right to revenge.

PRAYER: God help me to clear my heart today. Help me to experience the power of a moment. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

"Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace" (Romans 8:5-6 NIV).
