Dear Friend:
I have been rereading about the life of Abraham and Sarah.
I was thinking about them waiting. Waiting for Sarah to have a baby.
Waiting for the promises God made to Abraham to be fulfilled. God visited Abraham. Abraham was tight with God. He conveyed the message to Sarah. I think about the times I have been waiting. Waiting for answers to prayer. Sarah was trusting that what her husband said God said would come to pass. I know she and him had waves of doubt. I doubt and loose faith. Do you? Sarah allowed her husband to have relations with her maidservant. The maidservant, Hagar, had a baby boy. In Sarah's mind that was the only way Abraham was going to have a baby. She took control. How many times do I guess the way things should go and take control? How many things do you take control instead of waiting?
Sarah regretted it. I regret things. I realize that no matter what those two did, God NEVER changed His mind on the promise He gave Abraham. The promise was to make a great nation out of Abraham's bloodline. I was grateful for the reminder of this message. God never gives up on us. He created us and loves us so much. He knows our heart and our intentions.
I think it is important to remember not only for ourselves, but for our loved ones. He will never give up on them. If you have prayed for others and they continue to make mistakes just hang in there. Help is on the way! Abraham waited over 90 years for Sarah to have their son. How reassuring to get to the end of the story and all the promises were fulfilled. There are stories of Isaac, Joseph and others waiting.
Jesus is waiting to come back to us. We have to believe all of the waiting will be worth it.
I needed this encouraging word. How about you?
Let's pray: Father in heaven as I wait for..............give me courage, faith and confidence to stop wavering and believe. Thank You! In Jesus' name, Amen.
"being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead" (Romans 4:21-24 NIV)
